PROJECT PROFILE
Project Name Phase II - I/I Reduction Study
Project Location Brighton, Colorado
Description

As part of the City’s long term commitment to evaluation and rehabilitation the City’s wastewater collection system and development of a City-wide GIS map, a Phase II sanitary sewer evaluation study was conducted on the remaining City’s sewer basins located within the older portions of the City.

The scope of the project required the completion of all the field services, including the television inspection and review of selected line segments, I/I source flow balance and preliminary cost-effective rehabilitation recommendations within a 90-day period.  TREKK was able to meet the deadline by:

• Mobilizing three (3) manhole inspection crews

• Revising standard manhole/line lamping forms to include preliminary specific structural component rehabilitation recommendations for manholes and cleaning and television inspection recommendations to be provided by Sr. Field Technicians and Field Engineer.

• Coinciding the television inspection with the smoke testing inspections.

• Excellent public relations and project management made for no delays in the project.

TREKK was responsible for conducting the comprehensive sanitary sewer evaluation study for the City’s remaining sewer basins.  Work consisted of providing a complete public relations program (a dedicated web site, English and Spanish door notifications, meetings with the Fire Department, specific smoke testing traffic signs), installation and maintenance of 3 flow and 1 rainfall monitor, analyzing base flow and inflow/infiltration based on flow monitoring data, smoke testing of approximately 200,000 linear feet of pipe, field inspections (both Confined Space Entry and Topside) of approximately 740 manholes, RTK GIS survey of rim elevations of approximately 1,020 manholes, cleaning and CCTV inspection oversight of approximately 20,000 linear feet of pipe, I/I source flow balancing, and preparing a cost-effective rehabilitation and maintenance program including design specifications for the City of Brighton.

TREKK was also responsible for updating the City’s GIS map and provided professional engineering services for the rehabilitation design resulting from the sanitary sewer evaluation study.
